Eliminate Spyware better...and for FREE

I was in line at Best Buy's Geek Squad service center to have my broken DVD player fixed when I noticed the person in front of me being charged for "spyware removal".

I almost laughed in the guy's face but I realized that most people don't know that they can eliminate spyware for free and better than paid programs.

Luckily for this poor chap, the Geek Squad guy had to take a call in the back. Luckily for this poor chap that I happened to have two very useful programs on my USB pocket drive. I asked the chap what was his problem and he said his system has come to a crawl because of spyware. I asked what the Geek Squad guy was going to do, the chap said he was about to pay $40 plus tax to have it removed using Best Buy's spyware remover.

Well being a Yes I Saved saavy shopper...I would have none of that. I offered the FREE programs in my possession, he accepted. We loaded both, rebooted the computer, ran both scans separately and removed an amazing 154 logged spywares. We then rebooted the computer and he said it was working like new again...all in the time it took that Geek Squad guy to take his call.

Well, when the Geek Squad guy came back, the new YES I SAVED convert said, "Nevermind...the kind gentleman behind me fixed my problem for FREE." and with a smile walked off with a savings of $40 and tax. The Geek Squad guy took no offese (since he's a friend of mine) and said most people don't know they can fix most spyware problems for free...it gives Best Buy and other full service computer places a license to print money.

Oh by the way, the two programs are:
1) Spybot Search and Destroy
2) Lavasoft's AdAware SE (download the SE version because it's free and works just as well as the paid version for most spyware).

So the moral of the story is friends don't let friends throw $40 or more down the toilet...they get their spyware removed for FREE!
