Don't waste money on cable...get Satellite instead!

When it comes to pay TV, the consumer has to realize that its a buyer's market out there. When it comes to cable vs satellite, it is the satellite customer who tends to save the most because for the satellite companies, not only is there competition from cable, there is also competetion from the other satellite company!

When you think about it, HBO is no different on cable or the satellite companies so why pay more for the same thing? SO DON'T! The problem with cable is that usually there is no other cable company in the same area so basically cably company XYZ has a monopoly on all the cable customers in a given area. Not so for satellite. Dish Network and Direct TV directly compete for your dollars in the same area.

What's a saavy customer to do? Let them fight for your right to party! The satellite companies know that deeply discounting a deal is better than no deal at all. Are they really willing to deal? Heck ya! Whether you receive an ad in a local paper or print a legitimate ad from the internet, almost always the satellite companies are willing to either meet or beat their satellite competetor's ad.

For example if Direct TV is offering basic service for $15/month and Dish Network is offering it for $10...call Direct TV and ask if they will not only match Dish Network but ask them with a straight face what else they will offer you if you sign with them.

I for example was offered every single channel that Direct TV offers for $85/month vs $95 for Dish Network. The saavy YES I SAVED shopper I am called up Dish Network and informed them of Direct TV's offer and asked them directly not only to match their price but asked what else they would give me if I signed with them (usually their terms are for a 1 year contract...do NOT sign for more than 1 year!).

I not only ended up with Dish Network matching the price but they also threw in a free DVR upgrade with NO MONTHLY fees which are customary for a DVR. Also, they threw in installation for free. By the way, if you're going satellite you should NEVER have to pay for installation of any kind...simply ask BEFORE anyone comes down to waive the installation fee. Tell them that if they don't the deal is off...again...never evuh evuh evuh pay for installation.

The satellite companies are not dumb...they know each other's promotions. Play those promotions off of each company and you be the winner. Remember, all you have to do is a little leg work with either an ad or a legitimate internet ad and then ask them to match AND sweeten the pot with a little something extra.
